File upload

Let respondents attach files to your Google Form without signing in to Google. Google’s own file-upload question forces a Google login on everyone, which rules it out for job applications, customer support forms, or anything your audience fills in from a phone. TakumiForm’s upload fields have no login wall.

Setup (2 minutes)

Connect your form to TakumiForm (see Getting started if you haven’t). Google’s native file-upload question won’t carry over, so delete it from the form if you had one and use a TakumiForm field instead
In the dashboard, open your form and go to the File upload tab (or click File upload in the add-on window)
Click Add upload field, give it a label such as “Attach your resume”, and hit Save
Tick Show upload fields on this form and Save again

The fields appear at the end of your form on takumiform.com/f/… and in every embed of it. Respondents pick a file, submit as usual, and that’s it: no Google account, no Drive permission prompt.

What you can set per field

Label and help text: what the respondent sees
Required: the form won’t submit without a file
Max files: 1 to 5 per field
Max size: up to 25 MB per file
Allowed types: images, PDF, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, video, audio, archives. Leave everything unchecked to accept any file.

Up to 5 upload fields per form.

Where the files go

Files are stored by TakumiForm and shown in your Responses tab, next to the rest of that response’s answers. Images show as small thumbnails right in the table, so you can scan what came in without opening anything. Click a file to preview it in place: images, PDFs, plain-text files (TXT, CSV, Markdown), video, and audio all show there, with that response’s other answers alongside, and the left and right arrow keys step through every file in the same column. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, archives, and photo formats browsers can’t display (HEIC) download instead. If your browser can’t play a particular video or audio file, the preview offers Open in tab and Download. They’re private to you: only the signed-in form owner can open them, and they’re never served from a public link. Filenames are searchable and included in the CSV export.

To free up storage, expand a response and hit Delete next to a file. That removes the file for good; the rest of the response stays.

The rest of the answers still deliver to Google Forms and your linked Sheet as usual. The files themselves can’t ride along, because Google’s form endpoint doesn’t accept files and we don’t ask for access to your Drive or Sheets on purpose. Download them from the Responses tab (they’re included in the row when you expand it).

Storage

Files count toward your account’s storage, not your response limit: 10 GB on Takumi Starter, 100 GB on Takumi Pro, 1 TB on Takumi Business. The free trial includes 2 GB. A storage meter at the top of the File upload tab shows how much you’ve used and how much is left, and turns amber as you get close to the cap.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Fix
Fields don’t show on the form	Tick Show upload fields on this form and Save. Also check your trial or plan is still active; the tab shows a notice if it isn’t. Every active plan includes file upload.
”…is larger than X MB”	The per-file limit is what you set on the field, capped at 25 MB. Raise the field’s max size or ask for a smaller file.
”…isn’t an accepted file type”	The field has an allowed-types list. Add the category or clear all the checkboxes to accept anything.
A file opens as a download, not in the browser	Images, PDFs, plain text (TXT, CSV, Markdown), video, and audio preview in the browser. Office documents, archives, HEIC photos and SVG download on purpose: either browsers can’t display them, or (SVG) a file from a stranger could run code, so it isn’t rendered on our site.
”This form has run out of file storage”	Your account hit its storage cap. Upgrade the tier or delete old forms you no longer need.
